A customer credit balance shouldn’t need two subsystems and a small negotiation between AR and AP to refund. Up until now, that’s been the reality in FSM, and it’s the kind of workaround finance teams build policies around instead of questioning.
The good news is that Infor’s CloudSuite October 2026 Cumulative Update (CU) has greatly improved the process. The updates land squarely on close, cash, and payables workflows finance teams touch daily.
Next up in our week of CU coverage is none other than finance. Read on to get caught up on the biggest additions made available as part of Infor’s October release.
Key Finance Updates from the October 2026 CU
The Infor introduces several key changes to Global Ledger, Cash, and Payables modules, among others.
Cash—Credit Balance Refunds via Cash Ledger:
First, we have some changes to credit balance refunds. Credit balance refunds can be processed as a direct Cash Ledger payment instead of running through AR/AP netting. Previously, teams would need to manufacture an AP side of a transaction that was never really a payables event, to get a credit balance back out the door. It worked, but it left an audit trail that didn’t reflect what happened.
Now, teams can process the refund directly in Cash Ledger and keep the transaction type honest: a refund looks like a refund, not like an invoice that happens to net out to zero.
Cash—Reissued Cheques Linked by Transaction Number:
Reissued cheques now link back to the original using the Transaction Number and the actual cheque number, instead of an internal Reference Number. This provides immense audit-protection value as bank statements and vendor questions come in with a cheque number, not a system-generated reference.
And when the two don’t match up, whoever’s reconciling ends up chasing the connection by hand. Linking by cheque number means the trail someone’s looking for is the trail the system retrieves and shows them.
Global Ledger—Redesigned Reporting Basis Close Year Page:
The Reporting Basis Close Year page received a new layout with dedicated tabs for open and closed years, plus a new action to reopen a reporting basis year. Splitting open and closed years into their own tabs means users no longer have to scan a mixed list to find the year they’re working in.
Plus, the ability to reopen a reporting basis year directly provides value to the scenario where a late adjustment comes in after a year’s technically closed, and finance needs a clean way back in without a workaround.
Global Ledger—Unposted Journals in Period Status:
Period Status now includes an Unposted Journals period list. This is the kind of visibility that saves a close cycle from an unpleasant surprise. Instead of flipping back and forth between Unreleased JE’s and your period status, whoever owns the close can see it sitting there and clear it in a one stop shop.
Cash/IDM—Check Images Linked to Transactions:
Check numbers now link to their IDM images, with a “View Check” hyperlink available directly on the Cash Ledger Transaction. Anyone who’s had to pull a check copy for an audit request or a vendor dispute knows that the previous process was quite time-consuming. This much-needed enhancement puts the image one click away from the transaction itself.
Payables—Targeted Reverse Distribution Updates:
The Reverse Distribution for Update checkbox now updates only the changed dimension, instead of requiring the full Financial Structure to be re-entered. If a coding error only touches the department, forcing a full Fin Structure update to fix it means re-entering everything else too, and reopening the door to a new mistake somewhere that wasn’t broken. Updating just the one dimension that changed keeps the correction as narrow as the problem.
Payables—Approve or Reject From the Invoice Record:
Invoices can now be approved or rejected directly from the invoice record, without going through the inbasket.
That matters most when someone’s already looking at the invoice for another reason, a vendor call, a question from AP, and realizes it just needs a decision. Instead of backing out to the inbasket and finding it again, they can act right there.
Close Management—Automated Task Completion for GL Company System Control:
Close Period Task Completion for Global Ledger Company System Control now happens automatically. One less manual checkbox for whoever owns the close checklist, and one less step that gets forgotten when close day gets busy.
Budgets—Better Visibility into Template Processing:
Budget template processing and recovery now come with more visibility built in.
When a budget template run fails partway through, finance teams can see where it stalled and recover from that point instead of starting the whole run over. For anyone who’s built a budget template with a lot of dependencies, that difference alone can save an afternoon.

Infor CloudSuite Finance October 2026 CU FAQ
What’s new for Finance in Infor CloudSuite’s October 2026 CU?
The October 2026 CU adds nine Finance updates across Cash, Global Ledger, Payables, Close Management, and Budgets. The most notable changes let credit balance refunds process directly through Cash Ledger instead of AR/AP netting, link reissued cheques by their actual cheque number, and give budget template processing more visibility and recovery options.
How many Finance updates shipped in the October 2026 CU?
Infor’s October 2026 CU includes nine notable Finance updates, split across Cash, Global Ledger, Payables, Close Management, and Budgets. It’s a shorter list than other functional areas in this release, but several updates change close and reconciliation workflows finance teams touch every period.
Does the October 2026 CU change how credit balance refunds are processed?
Yes. Credit balance refunds can now be processed as a direct Cash Ledger payment instead of being run through AR/AP netting. That keeps the transaction type consistent with what’s actually happening: a refund, not an invoice created to force a net-zero balance.
What changed with reissued cheques in the October 2026 CU?
Reissued cheques now link back to the original using the Transaction Number, the actual cheque number, instead of an internal Reference Number. Since bank statements and vendor inquiries reference the cheque number, not a system-generated reference, this makes reconciliation and cheque tracing more direct.
Who should review the October 2026 Finance CU notes before it goes live?
Cash and reconciliation teams, payables staff, and whoever owns the period close checklist should all take a look. Cash/Receivables teams should note the credit balance refund and cheque linking changes, payables should review the invoice approval and reverse distribution updates, and close owners should check the new Reporting Basis Close Year layout and Unposted Journals visibility in Period Status.
